Videx Intercom System Review & Comparison

BAS-IP Monitor

What is Videx?

Videx was founded more than thirty years ago and has specialized in intercoms, video intercoms and access control systems since the beginning. It constantly improves the range of products, its quality, the services offered, and becomes one of the most famous brands of intercoms.

Videx Intercoms

Since 1986, VIDEX has seen the security market grow steadily in both the residential and commercial sectors. It proposes a lot of entry panels for building intercom. Unfortunately, the indoor products range is not so big.

Videx is well known for its 4000 and 8000 series door panels. More recently, Videx launched a SIP based IP intercom system called IPure.

Today VIDEX sales intercom systems in forty countries, and the UK market has become one of the most important for company.

Videx GSM Intercom

The GSM system stands for Global System for Mobile Communications, and in terms of intercom systems, it means that the intercom can call a designated phone number (like a cell phone) when the intercom button is pressed. This allows for remote access control as you can speak with the visitor even when you’re not on the premises.

Videx GSM intercom systems typically offer the following features:

  1. Call forwarding: When a visitor presses the call button on the intercom, it can ring your home phone or mobile device. You can communicate with your visitor and even grant them access remotely.
  2. Multiple user capability: Depending on the model, Videx GSM intercoms can accommodate multiple users or apartments, making them suitable for both residential and commercial settings.
  3. Access control: Some models allow you to open gates or doors remotely by pressing a button on your phone during the call or even by calling the intercom number.
  4. Programming via SMS: Some models allow you to add or delete users, change settings, and even trigger the relay output via SMS messages.
  5. Standalone or integrated operation: While some models can operate as standalone systems, others can be integrated into existing access control systems.

Range of Models

Videx offers a more streamlined selection with only three models of indoor stations, which might be sufficient for users with basic needs. On the other hand, BAS-IP provides a wider range of seven models, catering to a more extensive variety of user requirements and preferences.

Screen Size and Resolution

Both Videx and BAS-IP offer indoor stations with 4 inch and 7 inch models, accommodating those who prefer compact or larger screens. However, BAS-IP takes it a step further by also offering a 10 inch model, providing an even more extensive viewing area. Moreover, BAS-IP’s high-resolution screens ensure a clear and crisp display, which might be preferred by users seeking high-quality visuals.

Mounting Options

When it comes to installation, Videx indoor stations are designed for surface mounting. This may be easier and quicker to install, but it might not blend seamlessly with all interior designs. In contrast, BAS-IP offers more flexibility with the option of flush mounting their monitors. This option allows the monitor to sit more seamlessly within the wall, which could be more aesthetically pleasing and better for design-conscious users.

Color Options

In terms of aesthetics, Videx indoor stations are available only in white. This neutral color could easily fit into most interiors. However, BAS-IP offers more variety with their indoor stations available in black, white, and gold. This wider color range provides more options for users to match their home or office decor.

In conclusion, while both Videx and BAS-IP offer quality indoor stations, your choice between the two may depend on your specific needs and preferences. If you prefer a simple, easy-to-install solution with a neutral color, Videx could be a good choice. However, if you require a wider range of options in terms of models, screen sizes, mounting options, and color choices, BAS-IP could be the more suitable choice.

Please note that if your system is under warranty, it’s best to contact Videx or your installer for support to avoid voiding the warranty.

1. No sound or poor sound quality If you can’t hear the visitor or they can’t hear you, or if the sound is distorted, it could be due to a faulty speaker or microphone, or a poor connection.

  • Check the wiring for any visible damage or loose connections.
  • If the problem persists, you might need to replace the speaker or microphone module.

2. Door not unlocking If the door doesn’t unlock when you press the unlock button, it could be a problem with the relay, the lock itself, or the wiring between them.

  • Check the wiring for any visible damage or loose connections.
  • Test the lock and the relay separately to identify if one of them is the issue.
  • If the problem persists, you might need professional assistance.
