Doorbird Intercom Alternative – BAS-IP. Who Suits You Better?

What is Doorbird

Doorbird is a German company that has been manufacturing IP intercoms since 2010 (however, the first model appeared in 2015). Doorbird is focusing on intercom mobile applications. The company just recently made its first intercom monitor.

The main office of the company is located in Berlin, Germany. Following the German tradition, most panels are made of stainless steel. Some Door bird panels like D2101 or D2102 are completely similar to another German brand – Siedle.

Doorbird has made integrations with many companies such as Control4, Crestron, KNX, and more. The company did not forget about the open API either. You can find the API on the official website of the company.

The company’s clients are private houses and large apartment complexes with gated communities. For individuals, the company offers the replacement of the existing doorbell with a small intercom Doorbird panel with a call function on the mobile APP. And for large complexes – an intercom system based on IP.

Doorbird Indoor Stations

When comparing indoor station options, two significant players emerge in the field: DoorBird and BAS-IP. Both offer impressive features that cater to different needs and preferences, making them strong competitors.

DoorBird offers a single model of indoor station, the DoorBird A1101. This model comes with a 4-inch True Color Touch Display and is available in both black and white color options. It is characterized by its intuitive user interface, SIP support for additional connectivity, and features such as door opener and elevator control, visitor history recording, and room-to-room communication when multiple units are installed. It also offers weather forecast display and a configurable RGB LED status bar. For those who value simplicity and consistency across their system, DoorBird’s single model approach might be appealing.

On the other hand, BAS-IP provides a more diverse range of options with seven different indoor station models. These models come in 4, 7, and 10-inch high-resolution display sizes, providing more choices to match the size and design of your interior spaces. In addition to black and white, BAS-IP also offers a gold color option, giving an extra touch of luxury. It’s worth noting that the larger display sizes and color options might appeal to those looking for more customization and variety.

Access control and a video intercom are often treated as though they were the same thing, because both are linked to entering a building. But they are not quite the same.
